Account Representative currently switching careers into Software Development. Currently enrolled in the UW Software Development Program where I’m gaining the fundamental skills of software development along with hands-on experience in building projects with the most up-to-date tools in the industry. Being an adept learning of languages, I built an application with my recent knowledge of React that allowed my Association to better serve our members in accessing vital legal documents, products for their business, and contact information on member benefits. Through the Software Development Program, I found that my passion for languages transferred over very well into learning programming and gave me the patience and determination to learn more. In previous education, I graduated with a Bachelors in Japanese Language and Literature and during that period did an intensive winter interim in Florence Italy for Italian. The challenge of learning not only the syntax and grammar of a language but also the deeper, more nuanced cultural aspects gave me a more holistic view of learning in general. These skills allowed me to set goals, keep a discipline study regimen, and to realize that mistakes will happen, but what matters is that we learn from these mistakes and get rid of the past bad habits that allowed these mistakes to happen. I’m targeting a front-end developer role once I complete the program. I really enjoy working with React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other frameworks that help develop projects into dynamic, and user-friendly applications. I also have experience working with Back-End Development as well : Nodejs, MongoDb, Postgres, and Python.
