Initiated DHSC’s first policy position on drones in UK healthcare supply chains, driving policy leadership on supply chain innovation and the potential benefits for the whole healthcare system. I helped deliver a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) R&D programme exploring healthcare logistics use cases and lead DHSC input into cross-government Future of Flight policy.Coordinated a multi-disciplinary programme to effectively influence Windsor Framework negotiation outcomes on medicines and customs policy. I continue to lead work with industry to mitigate any emerging risks and challenges for industry and for Northern Irish healthcare supply chains.Lead for policy development and in formal negotiations with the EU to deliver a solution to help ensure continuity of supply of medical goods from the UK to Gibraltar.Established and continue to manage an effective supply chain risk management programme, enabling government, the NHS and industry to understand and plan for risks to UK medical supply chains, such as those arising from new global regulations or the introduction of new UK border controls.

Oversaw and delivered a comprehensive Brexit primary and secondary legislation programme.Worked with Commons and Lords Ministers, including a four-month period working across two offices to meet temporary needs. First hand experience of UK policy delivery and political decision-making during crises and ambiguous political environments. Strong understanding of the UK Parliament, governance and constitution.

Helped initiate a £430m Official Development Assistance research programme, with responsibility for financial management and transparency. I developed and managed financial assurance and transparency systems, enabling DHSC to score ‘Very Good’ against aid transparency indicators in under two years.I also managed DHSC participation as a funder in UK Government R&D programmes such as the Joint Global Health Trials while researching, consulting with experts, and navigating approvals with senior DHSC leaders to agree priority research areas, including health in humanitarian crises, global mental health and urban health.

Following the end of my fellowship I was promoted to a consultancy role with CGA with greater responsibility for project delivery and business development.Led delivery of the Girls Education South Sudan cash transfer programme in two States, helping increase South Sudanese school attendance to >1million children.Managed a team of experts to plan and deliver a pilot HR Information System in the education sector, inputting data from ~5,000 staff in remote and fragile settings.Conducted a health sector mapping exercise to understand the scope and quality of healthcare facilities and service delivery across South Sudan.
