I began research as an undergraduate at Case Western Reserve University, assisting Dr. Christine Duval's group with the development of electro-spun membrane absorbers. After receiving my Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering, I started my PhD at Carnegie Mellon University, advised by Dr. James Schneider. We study nucleic acid separations by capillary electrophoresis, and I am developing a sequence-specific assay for viral gene quantitation. I am now Dr. Schneider's senior student, casting me as the steward of our group's cumulative knowledge and resources.Throughout this project I have been fortunate to receive counsel from our collaborator Dr. Melissa Clague, who has long been an asset to Eli Lilly, and from Professor Anne Robinson, my co-advisor.
