About Alec Schneider

I am a quantitative trader at IMC, currently trading US Equity Options with a focus on discretionary position taking in the cryptocurrency sector. I coordinate and verify the work of four software developers to get new trading features into production as well as work to improve execution and tooling to express and monetize non-mid-market vol opinions. My past experience at IMC includes managing the AAPL, AMZN, and GOOG market making strategies. My project work included modeling and backtesting our trading behavior to optimize performance and identifying statistical arbitrage opportunities and volatility mispricing across US Equity Options names. I have previously worked as a quantitative trading intern at IMC, a software engineering intern at Garmin and undergraduate researcher studying how current events shape sentiment in a Computer Science lab at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. At university, I was a teaching assistant to an introductory honors CS class and a mentor to four new students as a part of the UNL CS mentoring program. I love the problem solving aspect of programming and enjoy participating in programming contests and hackathons. I like to spend my free time with friends, running, reading, or traveling.
