I write and distribute to the media news releases on behalf of the Cheshire Phoenix Professional Basketball Club and its Community Programme. I contribute to the official matchday programme and advising on all aspects of the media on a voluntary basis for the British Basketball League franchise, including briefing players on media responsibilities, managing developing stories and maintaining relationships with key media.

As well as applying my skills to the coverage of Chester FC, I was also responsible for keeping a handle on other sports including basketball through the Cheshire Jets & Phoenix, boxing, motorsport etc.I was also tasked with developing ideas to enhance the company's digital platform, using video and internet technology.

Here I was the senior journalist on the paper's key patch, covering council meetings, court and any other major stories while also filling in for the sports editor during absences.

After a successful interview at the Chester Chronicle I was sent on this course for four months on a pilot scheme offering non-graduates the opportunity to enter journalism where I learned the basic skills required to do the job, including 100wpm shorthand and media law.
