As an executive officer, I managed the maintenance, logistics and operations for a fleet of over 117 vehicles and 165 Soldiers. In this role, I was second in command of our team, where I helped advise our commander on key decisions and ensured that any decision made by the commander’s was properly executed by our organization. Additionally, I developed and executed the plan to transfer $29 million of government assets between transitioning commanders while simultaneously supporting planning efforts for a deployment to South Korea. I also created performance metrics based on organizational priorities to help improve efficiency of maintenance for vehicles and equipment. The performance metrics increased morale of our team and the maintenance efficiency of our vehicle fleet by 300%.I also served as an agent of change by leading the effort to implement robotic process automation (RPA) software in a team of 165 soldiers. In order to accomplish this innovation in our team, I utilized a data driven approach to help persuade higher ranking officers that this was a worthy investment by our organization. I also coordinated with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the implementation plan for RPA software was executed properly. Once approved, our team was the first team at Joint Base Lewis-McChord to install the software.

After successfully serving as an executive officer for an 80-soldier team at Charlie Battery, 2-17 Field Artillery Battalion, I was advanced to the position of executive officer for Headquarters Battery, 2-17 Field Artillery Battalion – which included over 280 soldiers and over 118 pieces of equipment valued at $127 million. I was responsible for the maintenance, logistics and operations of our soldiers and equipment. Additionally, I planned and resourced major operations for our team including transporting vehicles and equipment to Fort Irwin, California to participate in a $25 million training exercise. During our training exercise in Fort Irwin, I assumed command of our team for five days, where I worked with higher ranking officers on operational planning and made decisions that impacted over 100 soldiers in a constantly changing environment.

I created the training plan to improve physical fitness and military training for a team of 30 soldiers by leveraging historical data, doctrine as well as the experience from senior members of the team. This included developing performance metrics needed to track the teams progress throughout the duration of the training plan. This resulted in our team exceeding training certifications. I codified effective training techniques and procedures which was then used by successive commanders.
