As a Technical Agronomist at Afrikelp, I investigate and implement solutions for clients in the agriculture industry. My role includes examining, researching, and resolving issues related to crop management, output, and quality, as well as developing tailored agronomic strategies and providing technical support to farmers and distributors.Duties and Responsibilities:• Conduct agronomic trials in controlled and uncontrolled environments, ensuring statistical and commercial standards.• Develop and write trial protocols and SOPs using the latest methods and practices.• Utilise the best tools and practices for all trials and keep measurements aligned with current scientific research.• Analyse data critically and present it in a marketable format.• Collaborate with external institutions and engage with trial protocols, progress, and data across all divisions.• Adhere to all QC parameters in agronomic trials and collaborate continuously with team members.• Manage product development and expansion by monitoring local field and market conditions.• Build strong relationships with distributors, sales agents, producers, and industry bodies.• Conduct technical presentations on commercial and scientific platforms.• Write and collaborate on scientific and social publications.• Integrate knowledge of plant nutrition, crop production, and soil science to address market needs and technical advances.• Align activities with Afrikelp’s strategy and maintain industry awareness through networking and training.• Ensure effective communication within departments regarding research and development.• Communicate with management on operational issues and build excellent customer relationships.• Utilise knowledge of plant nutrition to produce and update product manuals.• Investigate customer complaints and produce technical reports as per Afrikelp’s guidelines.• Provide regular updates to management on product development and demonstrations.

We specialise in bioremediation technologies for the mining industry. This includes water treatment of mine water drainages such as acid mine drainage (AMD) from gold and coal mines in South Africa. This is done by utilising specific microbial communities in semi active bioreactors. Furthermore, we are developing technologies to remediate mine soils and ground water using phytoremediation techniques as well as biochar and microbial inoculants.

The EDED module helps student to assess their undergraduate skills and promote themselves to employers, investors, and peers. We also provide students with guidance to create their own website that exhibit their abilities as well as an outstanding professional LinkedIn profile. Students also receive frequent feedback on these activities, as well as potential career guidance.
