I have been a practicing Psychotherapist with a Psychoanalytic orientation since 2005. She has a B.A., M.A., M.Phil in Psychology with a core component in Clinical Psychology. I am deeply interested in the language of Indian aesthetics and the strong reverberations between Psychoanalysis and Indian Aesthetics, especially the ideas of bhava (emotions) and rasa (the residual or transcendental emotions). In my practice of Indian Aesthetics, I has engaged with a fuller representation of human emotions in the ordinary artistic expression of everyday life and its complex evocations. This impacts my practice of a culturally rooted Psychoanalysis, an enriching engagement with Indian aesthetics, both carrying elements of the psychobiographical to explore the complex relationship with the creative moment, the “artist” and her/his life. My ongoing writing is on “Sudhir Kakar and his Women: Renegotiating the Feminine Position and Bisexuality”.
