The rise of multi-cultural movements in many Western societies has resulted in more and more calls from analysts of varying persuasions to re-examine the issue of culture in psychoanalysis. Building on the works of Indian psychoanalyst and cultural theorist Sudhir Kakar, the Kakar Centre for Psychoanalysis and Culture works towards the creation of an ‘international psychoanalysis’ instead of merely local, national or Indian psychoanalysis. The Kakar Centre for Psychoanalysis and Culture promotes an international approach to psychoanalysis - 1) KCPC builds on the legacy of Prof. Sudhir Kakar 2) KCPC promotes awareness about cultural psychoanalysis 3) KCPC looks into alternate frameworks for psychoanalysis in non-western countries 4) KCPC works for the inclusion of Indian and international ideas in psychoanalysis 5) KCPC organizes lectures, workshops and events on themes that are at the intersection of psychoanalysis and culture 6) KCPC funds individual and community projects that support its mission 7) KCPC funds publications on themes of cultural psychoanalysis 8) KCPC incubates ideas, connects projects with funders, and tracks their impact on the inclusion of global perspectives in psychoanalysis 9) KCPC is a community dedicated to psychoanalysis and culture in India and beyond Reach out to us at - Kakarcentrepc@gmail.com
