After my internship with Tovey Shultz Construction, I joined the team as an estimator. With this position, came the development of many of the skills I learned throughout my internship, which stemmed around estimating quantities, scopes of work, communicating with subcontractors, managing requests for information, attending job walks as well as submitting reports on the gathered content, submitting bid packages, and searching for bidding opportunities. This position has also helped me polish general skills such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Teams, and Bluebeam.

As an Intern at Tovey/Shultz Construction, I was introduced to many new elements in construction. This involved learning about the intricacies that come into play when creating and managing bid packages, communication with both subcontractors and our in-house team, as well as the types of work conducted by Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Estimators as a whole. Throughout this time, I have exercised my ability to learn as much as possible from my friendly and knowledgeable coworkers, who were more than happy to answer any questions I had. Overall, I was able to develop a new set of skills, that revolved around a different type of customer interaction, as well as learning to critically think about in-field conditions that must be considered prior to development.

As a team leader, I strive to ensure that the quality of food, equipment, and team motivation is running high! Through leadership, my team and I have been able to lower our interaction time and serve our customers in a more efficient manner, all while producing the same good quality food. Additionally, being a team leader involves managing break scheduling and till management, which needs attention to multiple times throughout a shift. The most essential aspect of this opportunity would have to be the chance I get to interact, understand, and work side-by-side with my coworkers while we improve daily.
