I'm a young researcher with microbiology and computational biology background. I have been doing research for the last 17 years employing molecular biology and bioinformatics methods. Since 2007 I started working on the microbiome field and soon after I entered into the fascinating word of viruses, phages in particular. In parallel since that time I started working with the different NGS platforms trying to get the most out of the different machines we got to try as well as developing computational methods for analyzing NGS data. Since 2013 I have been working as researcher and professor at Universidad de los Andes with my research group in Microbial Ecology and Computational Biology. Since 2019 we started a new endeavor with BiomeAcuity, a company working on bioinformatics applied to microbial diversity and genomics.
