- Design and perform a sampling campaign of river and lake waters in a wide variety of ecosystems from western USA, through Central and South America to Argentinian Patagonia- Self-manage project planning, field work and logistics- Collect, stabilize, ship samples and summarize data

- Investigate the degradation of commercial polymers in agricultural soils- Optimise experimental procedures to recover polymers from different types of soil- Understand the potential of dissolved organic matter for reducing water pollutants
