My interest in multidisciplinary research have flourished during my university studies and I decided to move to Belgium to join a PhD project which reflected my scientific interests in an international environment. After focusing on a diagnostic assay during my PhD and successfully achieving scientific targets with perseverance, I am motivated to apply my knowledge in the nanobiotechnology sector. My areas of expertise are bionanomaterials, nanotechnologies, biochemistry and the study of interactions at the bio-nano interface.Effective adaptability, trustworthy, good communication skills, hard worker, and team player mentality are my most recognized soft skills. I worked in the European Marie Curie ITN consortium (NanoCarb) as PhD fellow building a network with experts in glycobiology, chemistry and nanotechnology and managing effectively an interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers embracing different backgrounds.

Nanoplasmonic sensing platform for lectin detection.I worked on the development of gold nanorods conjugated with synthetic glycopolymers as a diagnostic biosensing platform for the detection of lectin biomarkers in liquid biopsies. This in vitro assay was tested in human donors serum samples.
Milan, Lombardy, Italy
I studied the binding properties between lectins and glycopolymers using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technology.
United Kingdom
I synthesized a panel of polymers via photo-initiated reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. I characterized and coupled them to carbohydrate ligands. I functionalized plasmonic nanoparticles and studied the effect of the coating chemistry in different biological matrices. I gained experience in a range of synthetic and analytical chemistry techniques, and the materials developed have become a valuable asset for the further development of the biosensor platform.

During my internship I set up the optimal experimental conditions for the solubilization and functionalization of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) using a chemically modified denatured lysozyme. Furthermore, I evaluated MWNTs biocompatibility with cell culture, prepared synthetic scaffolds for eukaryotic cells and analyzed prokaryotes flocculation with microscope. Show less
