Student Life Sustainability connects students with opportunities to practice sustainable leadership, partner with staff, and reduce the carbon footprint across our buildings and operations. Student Life Sustainability has a responsibility to provide experiential learning and leadership development programs, engage our staff and students in culture and behavior changes, and make our spaces more environmentally and socially sustainable. Student Life represents nearly 1/5 of the building square footage of the Ann Arbor campus and interacts with all of the students on a near daily basis. We especially lean into our social and community resiliency as part of our sustainability work, while helping guide the direction for campus.

Working across Student Life to lead sustainability related initiatives. A particular focus on leadership and experiential learning, behavior and culture change, and sustainable operations. The work is targeted on carbon neutrality, student engagement, and bridging social and environmental sustainability.

4 acre intensively grown farm in the city of Detroit. Currently 1&1/2 acre under production, 115 fruit trees, a 30x96 hoophouse, 14x160 mobile hoop, and a wood heated aquaponics system. We've got a modified shipping container that is used as storage and living. We currently sell at 2 farmers markets, 6-8 restaurants and have 90 CSA members as part of a multi-farm cooperative CSA. Our hope is a for-profit model of effective, sustainable farming in the city, focused on neighborhood revitalization. Oh, and it's all powered by solar panels.Always looking for help. The Garden Project is both community gardening support and small scale farm business incubator through Lansing Roots. Annually, we help nearly 7,000 individuals access and grow food in almost 100 community gardens and a 10 acre incubator farm. Tools, classes, canning supplies, books, and other resources are distributed and offered to those in need. Around 80% of our gardeners are low-income and we work with a large refugee and immigrant population, too.For 30 years the Greater Lansing Food Bank has prioritized 'self-help' programming through the Garden Project.Previous roles at the food bank include: Amercorps Member, Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator, and Lansing Roots manager.

From ordering seeds to building chicken coops, waste-oil burners to volunteer organization and crop management plans, all aspects of operating a small scale (100 person summer CSA, 150 winter CSA) organically certified farm have been explored while assisting a farm couple.

Assisted in development of second year small-scale organic farm. Involved in all aspects of small scale intensive farming, including, planning rotational plantings, milking goats, harvesting for markets and family shares, and sales and setup at farmers markets. This position required a strong attention to detail and flexible full time hours, often working sunup to sundown.
