My tasks Include:• Enhancing visibility amongst the development sector and other stakeholders through media, public relations, documentation and dissemination of WaterAid Uganda best practices, success stories, key learnings and research findings• Developing and delivering a comprehensive strategic and tactical communications plan to support advocacy, fundraising and profiling WaterAid Uganda locally and internationally• Raising the organisation's media profile by revising, defining and managing the communication strategy that focuses on and maximises key moments to influence and elevate the attention to water, sanitation and hygiene• Developing and managing a dissemination plan for policy research outputs/products to relevant decision-makers and donors to influence policy to facilitate universal water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)• Supporting the development of capacity building initiatives on key communications skills and will ensure that the virtue resource centre is developed. The post holder will undertake field visits to document/photo-document success stories of partners• Supporting local and national campaigns and will be key to the delivery of quality communication and learning opportunities within WaterAid and partners at all levels

The Bush Chicken is a multiple award winning Liberian news outlet. The name is inspired by both the comprehensive coverage of rural communities and the idea that the outlet will serve as a wake-up call to critical issues.In 2014, we identified the following problems with journalism in Liberia:• Articles are often poorly researched.• Articles reflect a poor command of the English language.• News businesses are poorly managed, leading to paltry revenues and subsequently, poorly paid reporters. This, in turn, leads to news bias towards those who are willing to pay.• The interior and rural areas are widely ignored• A general lack of in-depth analysis or investigative reportingTo solve these issues, the Bush Chicken will produce adequately researched and well-written news articles. We will pay our journalists well to ensure that they can focus on writing with minimal conflicts of interests. We will also employ investigative journalism and ensure that stories from the interior are covered.As the Editor in Chief, my job is to: • Train journalists in development workshops as their Lead Instructor• Guide editors and local reporters on the best practices of online writing• Work diligently with local reporters to develop and write new stories • Manage an ongoing editorial process while reviewing, editing and fine tuning content• Provide advice on editorial issues • Ensure quality by making sure that reporters deliver accurate, fair and unbiased stories• Generating ideas for new ways of doing things, such as using new technology, implementing ways to increase readership and how to utilize new media

I worked at Kampala International University (KIU), a multi-campus system which consists of two campuses in Uganda (The Main campus in Kampala and the Western Campus in Ishaka-Bushenyi); one other university in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, while a third one is being developed in Nairobi Kenya.As the Public Relations Officer, my role was instrumental in:• Instrumental in delivering almost $50,000 everyday from digital marketing leads• Designing and implementing a comprehensive strategic communication plan that led to a 3rd Place National Position, on the Webometric World Ranking• Delivering over 700 sensitization articles and posts during the pandemic• Working with journalists and editors to disseminate press releases and factual information about the University • Develop a bi-monthly news letter to improve internal and external communication• Conceptualised and implemented the KIU Cares CSR campaign • Improved collaborations and relationships with internal and external partners • Built and maintained a strong PR department from the ground up• Built strong relationships with national media• Compile and archive all new information about the University • Conducted public relations training for KIU staff

I developed a Communication Course Module for the Marine Plastics Research & Innovation Framework, through funding from Waitrose & Partners. The communications course was part of a bespoke online training module to help enhance the impact of activities aimed at disseminating research findings and promoting best practice interventions and innovative solutions emerging from their area of research.

I worked as a Regional Editor for Ducor Sports, a digital media company focused on providing real-time coverage of African sports teams and players around the world. Ducor Sports will fill the current void in Africa sports coverage, helping Africa’s developing sports industry get the attention it deserves.At Ducor Sports, I accomplished the following tasks:• Developed weekly video content• Read content and corrected errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar• Rewrote copy to make it easier for readers to understand• Verified facts using standard reference sources• Evaluated submissions from writers to decide what to publish• Worked with writers to help their ideas and stories succeed• Planed the content of digital media and publications according to the publication’s style and editorial policy• Developed story and content ideas while being mindful of the audience• Allocated space for the text, photos, and illustrations that make up a story• Approved final versions submitted by staff
