Throughout my life, I developed skills in household maintenance and responsible use of tools. I am competent in computer use, including the Microsoft Office suite. I have some variety of experience in volunteer work prior to college. During my time at Allegheny, I developed a background in many branches of physics, including Newtonian Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics, Thermal Dynamics, Solid State Physics, Electric and Magnetic Fields, and Analog Electronics, among others. I also added some skills in Chemistry and Java programming. I completed a Senior Project in modeling systems of particles, using Fortran 90 to run simulations and LaTeX to write it. This allowed me to develop a skill in scientific writing. Some misfortune struck in my life shortly after receiving my Bachelor of Science degree, contributing to a gap in activity followed by me finding work at Precision Finishing Inc. through a staffing service. During my time with Precision, I have developed a wide-ranging skill set in a light industrial setting that has given me considerable knowledge of machine operation and maintenance, understanding of safety and quality procedures, organization and time management skills, coordination of tasks as an individual and in a group, knowledge of safe and effective equipment operation, understanding of customer-provided materials and company-related finishing substances, and attention to detail with a strong work ethic. I feel my distinct combination of scientific education and practical work experience has prepared me to adapt to, and thrive in, any occupation.
