The Adventure Program provides student-powered adventure experiences that promote personal growth, transformative learning, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship to the University of Maryland community. In my role, I am a mentor and supervisor to student employees and leaders in the student-run bike shop and outdoor adventure trips, providing training, structure, mentoring, and programming for my employees. I empower my student leaders to take ownership of our space, direct work, and provide exceptional experiences to our patrons. I have the pleasure to coordinate initiatives and programming within the Adventure Program, within University Recreation and Wellness, and as a member of several university communities focused on sustainable transit and inclusion.

As a supervisor at Earth Treks Timonium, I worked as a mentor, trainer, and leader in our space. I sought opportunities for my staff to practice and grow their skills in customer service, teaching, and technical safety around climbing, providing both supportive care and direct feedback. I taught programs and trained staff to teach various levels of climbing skill to a wide audience, following up on the development both of the students and the instructors. As a member of leadership, I found opportunities for us to grow our programs, improve processes, and ensure there was consistent documentation in our department. I had the opportunity to partner with the management team, other supervisors, and part-time staff to make our gym an outstanding place to learn, climb, and be part of the community.

I provided a variety of marketing services in our department at Beltway Companies, including Social Media Marketing, Web Development, Content Management, Customer Relationship Management, Customer Service Management, Content Creation (including print, photo, and video), and more! I managed our suite of Google Services and strive to ensure that we have excellent internal branding.

As a teacher, I developed relationships with staff and students and worked to build a mission-driven culture of growth and accountability within my classroom. I analyzed student data and taught students to work together to solve problems. I developed action plans for student achievement based off of data and educational requirements and standards. I developed relationships with parents and stakeholders to push student achievement and provide better resources for my students.

I proudly served as a Diplomas Now Team Leader for City Year, Washington DC, working with a team of other full-time volunteers as mentors, tutors, and role models for children at a high school in Northeast DC. I had the privilege to work with a diverse team, supporting their work in classrooms, after-school programs, and initiatives with school-based partners, providing them space and feedback to take ownership of their projects and work. Our leadership team worked closely with school partners and City Year leadership to ensure that we provided the highest level of school interventions possible, bringing in resources. I also served as a lead in some physical service projects throughout DC, created a CYDC Newsletter entitled "Ubuntu" with a team of other staff, and had the distinct privilege to work with a variety of amazing individuals in my two years.
