I am currently undertaking an analyst role in Change Oversight as part of a two year rotational graduate scheme in Risk Management.

In my final academic year I undertook a role as a mathematics tutor, running Programming and Discrete Mathematics tutorials for university students. Responsibilities included: • Planning and delivering weekly MATLAB tutorials under tight time constraints. • Marking problem sheets with concise feedback to develop students’ problem solving approach. • Presenting and explaining complex mathematical problems to students simply and clearly.

As part of my degree I completed a 13-month placement in Collections Credit Risk, where I acquired a detailed understanding of retail banking and the responsibilities of a credit risk function.I experienced: • Leading an in depth policy impact review, which spanned both customer and financial impacts, and presenting the results directly to executive stakeholders. • Proactively developing SAS and SQL code to build MI and streamline KPI processes. • Designing and integrating bespoke SAS data marts during a collections system migration, ensuring a smooth transition of reporting processes.

This role involved GCSE and A level students proposing difficult questions or subjects to me through a text chat window. It was my responsibility to break down the problem to the student, and help them develop an understanding of the relevant theories and methods. Here I needed to listen and quickly assess the needs of individuals, and use and adapt a variety of techniques to explain complex technical ideas simply.
