I spent 25 years in the construction industry as a sheet metal worker. Most of that time I was in a supervisory capacity even as an apprentice. I transitioned into safety in 2009 first as a site superintendent and a safety rep. but then I committed to the Safety role and began to travel for safety work. I was the site safety on a Georgia Pacific site for Faith Technologies and supervised 80 plus employees with no recordables and no lost time incidents.I also was a site safety lead in a Ford Plant in Claycomo MO for Durr Inc. while the paint booths and ovens were redone. Again we had no recordables on the night shift and no lost time incidents.I oversaw the safety program in Topeka KS at a Mars Plant with 60+ electricians on site. I was a part of the safety planning team with the G.C. and performed all orientations and drug testing. We completed that job with no recordables and no lost time incidents.I have been a senior safety manager with Faith for 5 years and Faith has consistently performed below the industry average in TRIR and LTIR as well as our MOD rates. All while growing in manhours and profits.I have been part of writing policy changes and introducing new policies as well as authoring Tool Box Talks and safety articles.
