Work with a team to load in and out concerts and other events at the Colonial Life Arena. We take care of all of the rigging and difficult access required for the venue using ropes, steel, and chain motors.

Working side-by-side with the Race Director, the Build Director plays a key leadership role planning the event and ensuring the build team is working as efficiently as possible.Main Responsibilities:- Ensure all obstacles for a specific race are built to acceptable standards (size, build quality) with racer safety and racer throughput being the key drivers.-Determine the logistics and resources needed to build a Spartan Race based on the design of the event. This includes man-power (staff, local labor or Labor Ready), material and supplies, and equipment.-Communicate to procurement specific resources needed to produce the event.-Work with local vendors to provide services such as Excavation, General Contracting, and Water Solutions.-Manage event level build teams including ensuring timely accurate payment, employee health, and positive team dynamics.-Support the RD during the course design process to ensure an efficient and cost effective design.-Manage event specific trailer logistics.-Problem-solve build issues as they develop during the full production cycle.-Develop the race specific build sheet which summarizes all build specific details needed by the build team.-Develop trailer load plans given event specific variations and needs at upcoming events.-Timely pre-race communication to all build and logistics staff covering all information needed to produce the event.-Manage sourcing resources against the budget.

Spartan Build Crew Leaders are responsible for building and assembling obstacles on the race course and in the festival area at various events throughout the country. The Crew Leader’s primary role is to ensure obstacles are constructed to the highest standards while completing tasks in a timely fashion. Build crews are comprised of Spartan staff, local labor, and volunteers, many of whom have little to no experience. Crew Leaders are required to educate and manage a team of new support staff daily. Successful execution of the build week relies heavily on the Crew Leader’s knowledge of the build process, ability to communicate with individuals coming from various backgrounds, and unwavering attention to detail. Crew Leaders play a key role in creating an outstanding experience for the many volunteers that make event production possible.Responsibilities:Build Week Oversee a team of Spartan staff, local labor, and volunteers in order to construct or assemble obstacles according to Spartan specifications. Instruct inexperienced team members concerning assembly process. Ensure crew completes tasks efficiently and effectively. Assist in the load-in/load-out phases of event production. Load/unload trailers using heavy equipment. Operate basic heavy equipment in the process of obstacle construction. Proactively address issues as they arise in order to complete assignment within preset timeframe. Work in poor weather, long hours, and fast-paced challenging conditions. Race Day Oversee a zone on race course consisting of several obstacles and aid stations. Instruct volunteers concerning proper enforcement of obstacle rules. Provide support for volunteers in the form of education, food, and any assistance necessary. Proactively address and solve problems as they arise. Serve as a positive representative of Spartan Race Inc.
