I worked this role during the first semester of my Third and final year of University, typically on weekends. It was a small store, with only 6 or 7 total employees, and typically 2-3 people working at once. This role was very similar in nature to my previous job at NEXT, however with longer days/ more shifts and a much smaller store. At the start of my summer, after the conclusion of my Second year at University, I acquired this role as a Sales Assistant during the busiest retail period of the year for NEXT: the summer sale. The hours for this role in particular were more challenging than my prior jobs, as some shifts began at 5am, spending the early hours of the morning tagging and organising hundreds of items of stock. This job required me to both engage closely with guests, and remain vigilant and aware for hours at a time. As a bouncer I resolved any health and safety and behavioural violations/ incidents, which required me to be quite independent, and act on my own authority. My main responsibilities were to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our clients (typically young children). I acquired this role a year after completing my work experience in the same store. I worked during the Holiday season of 2015 and was invited back again the following year. This was my first customer-facing role, which gave me valuable skills in the field of customer service. Furthermore, I was given duties in the stock room, organising and accounting for vast quantities of stock worth thousands in revenue. This job was a lot of fun, and a great way to start my working career!
