    - Pure mathematician with varied research interests including group theory, representation theory and combinatorics. - Expert public speaker with emphasis on tailoring talks to specific audiences including students, researchers and policymakers.-I am a strong believer in the role of experimental computations in the field of pure mathematics, and I'm a keen user of the packages MAGMA, GAP and CHEVIE.Some highlights from my post-doctoral career.Research:- Directed my own research program tackling complex problems across topics in algebra and discrete mathematics.- Results recognised with publications in leading academic journals, and subsequent citations by world experts.- Collaborated with prominent international academics from the London School of Economics and the Uni. of Western Australia. Teaching:- Co-taught the lecture course "Topics in discrete math." for final year Bristol undergraduates. This included a complete redeisgn of the syllabus to focus on error-correcting codes and cryptography, as well as all exam setting/marking responsibilities.- Designed and taught 3 training courses for new research fellows. Each consisted of a half day of lectures, plus extensive learning materials.- Supervised the student dissertation "Linear codes for error-correction and quantum-resistant cryptography."Invited lectures/visits:- Visiting research fellow as part of collaborative programmes at the Newton Inst. (Cambridge) and the MSRI (Berkeley).- Regular invited speaker in European seminar series and annual conferences e.g. the British Mathematical Colloquium.- Attended numerous conferences/summer schools in Europe and N. America.Administration- Lead organiser of the weekly Bristol algebra and geometry seminar. This included inviting/hosting leading international academics, and managing an associated University budget.
  • Imperial College London
    Phd Researcher
    Imperial College London 2013 - Aug 2017
I completed my PhD at Imperial college, under the supervision of Prof. Martin Liebeck in 2017.My thesis was in the field of group theory, an algebraic topic generalising the notion of symmetry in abstract and physical systems. In particular, I examined "width questions for finite simple groups": finite simple groups are the building blocks of groups (much like the role prime numbers play with integers) and the notion of width measures how efficiently the group is generated.During my PhD I was a very active member of the London postgraduate community, regularly giving talks in university based seminars and work groups.
  • Imperial College London
    Graduate Teaching Assistant
    Imperial College London 2013 - Aug 2017
GTA for a range of undergraduate course in pure mathematics. Responsibilities include demonstrating 1st/2nd year problem classes, invigilation, and marking up to master's level submissions.
  • Ic Radio
    Radio Presenter
    Ic Radio 2010 - 2015
Presenter/producer of a prime time radio show on the IC Radio network, specialising in new music. I have also worked as a show producer on live events such as broadcasting gigs from the Imperial College live music venue as well as IC Radio's student election broadcasts.
