I have worked with a team to design and build a prototype robotic ankle rehabilitation device. It is known as the vi-RABT (Virtually Interfaced Robotic Ankle and Balance Trainer). I have helped all through the engineering process, from background research all the way through detailed design and fabrication. ATA Engineering is an engineering consulting firm that offers a multitude of design analyses on client projects. My experience entailed Finite Element Analysis services on designs from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Some projects require only stress and modal analyses and reporting results to JPL, but other projects require design modification suggestions from ATA based on areas of excessive stress or weakness under given environmental conditions.I was also involved with internal designs for Small Business Innovation Research projects (SBIRs) that can earn government grants for further development and research.Occasionally I was involved in on-site testing at locations such as Disney Land in Anaheim, CA for beam support deflection on roller coaster attractions.

My responsibilities consisted of maintaining, repairing and/or modifying equipment used for battery production. I got a lot of 3D design experience and learned a lot about electromechanical systems. This job gave me a level of responsibility that I felt suited my abilities and allowed me to use creativity when solving problems.

At Covidien I worked on a project that was in the final stages of development before it proceeded into large scale production. This gave me experience in testing and qualifying the product in all sorts of areas. As my first Co-op at a medical device company, I got a great level of exposure to how the medical industry operates and what requirements are necessary for products.
