At D2L, I worked within an agile product design team conducting user experience research to inform product strategy and design. Highlights of this work include:-Conducted over 100 user experience research sessions using a variety of research methods and techniques. -Implemented a new best-practice in disseminating research findings, by highlighting key findings and illustrating them with audio clips from participants.-Engaged with stakeholders throughout the company, including product designers, developers, project managers, marketing consultants, and senior leadership to improve D2L’s flagship product Brightspace.

As an analyst at MacPhie, I supported my team in engagements across the private, public, and non-profit sectors, as well as with internal operations and business development. Major areas of work included:Research and Analysis:-Supported in the planning and execution of research for market analysis and strategic planning.-Drew insightful and thematic conclusions from raw qualitative and quantitative data.-Analyzed, synthesized and distilled data into cogent and persuasive reports.Facilitation: -Assisted in the facilitation of purposeful and energetic discussions through thought-provoking questions, intelligent analogies, and constructive analysis.-Captured and synthesized themes and key ideas of facilitated workshops in real time.Writing:-Wrote captivating organizational identity statements, such as Vision, Mission, Guiding Principles, and Aspirational Identity. -Created easily readable and enjoyable reports that guide organizations to build strong culture.

• Aided in the planning, carrying out, and analysis of qualitative design research. • Developed an understanding of a variety of tools and techniques used in design research such as empathy interviews, card sorting, personas, ethnographic observation, user journey mapping, systems mapping, and participatory prototyping.• Drafted a variety of communications pieces, of both the technical variety (briefing notes) and the creative variety (research invitations).• Headed the design of a research project focused on understanding the variety of approvals our team had to go through in order to conduct our major projects. Since our research process was new to our department the approval process was complex. In order to determine how the key players thought the process should work I designed a card sorting exercise to gain knowledge about how they organized the various factors involved.
