Alex is director of A-squared Studio, a niche geotechnical and structural engineering consultancy providing specialist support to structural consultants, contractors and developers for complex substructure schemes. A-squared's 80-strong team is the largest independent ground engineering practice in the UK.Alex is a UK based chartered civil engineer with extensive cross-sector experience in geotechnical and structural engineering. He is the former Head of the Ground Engineering discipline at Buro Happold and has experience leading significant multi-disciplinary design teams on projects across the globe. He has particular interests in integrating geotechnical and structural design by means of advanced soil-structure interaction modelling. Alex has project experience across the entire design and construction life-cycle ranging from feasibility and concept design development to working alongside clients and contractors managing and delivering schemes. He is experienced in many forms of procurement and contractual engagement, working with clients from various sectors, inter-disciplinary design teams and an array of contractors. As part of his technical leadership and pursuit for excellence, his passion for elegance in design is underpinned by a creative and dynamic approach to engineering.
