Exploring the use of trapped ions for the development of quantum computers.

Providing problem classes, tutorials and preparing course materials for: - Quantum Mechanics - Electromagnetism

Some of my favourite challenges: - Tailoring a 'Mathematics for Computer Scientists' course for an interested software developer (axiomatic logic, set theory, methods of proof etc.) - Teaching from a syllabus of 'Mathematics for Marine Engineers' (primarily calculus and mechanics, but to an audience interested in the pragmatic, not the academic)- 'Further Quantum Mechanics' for students having already taken a quantum mechanics course (2nd quantisation, time-dependent perturbation theory, scattering, mixed states etc.)Various tutoring roles across Mathematics and Physics, working with students and professionals interested in re-training. I find that the varied nature of this work did a lot for my communication and organisational skills.

Preparing and delivering English Language lessons to primary-school children. Though a short stint, I felt the challenge of communicating without sharing a common language taught me things about how we learn.
