Supporting Philadelphia Water Department’s Planning and Environmental Services Division

• Collect and analyze samples from surface water, groundwater, potable water, and wastewater.• Write, implement, and evaluate sampling plans. Use of ARCGIS to build maps and illustrate sample points.• Enter, analyze, evaluate, and present water quality data. • Read and interpret environmental regulations (e.g. CWA, SDWA, NPDES.) • Write and submit reports for environmental compliance and scientific research. Communicate with environmental regulators.• Manage water quality laboratory. Write standard operating procedures, design and lead technical trainings, and calibrate and maintain water quality monitoring instrumentation.• Provide public outreach and water quality guidance for Suez Delaware’s EPA approved Watershed Control Plan. This WCP provides monetary, educational, and technical support to upstream stakeholders (e.g. livestock and agriculture farms) to encourage best management practices that improve water quality by reducing point and non-point pollution. • Educated in watershed ecology, best management practices, green infrastructure, water quality parameters, and monitoring techniques critical to evaluating and improving watersheds. • Provide customer service and resolution for water quality complaints. Developed a customer complaint database to improve Suez Delaware’s ability to track and address water quality complaints.• Manage a committee for identification, assessment, monitoring, and replacement of aging infrastructure (e.g. cast iron water mains) in distribution system.

Wildlife Ecology Laboratory, University of Delaware. • Worked in the laboratory portion of a research study which focused on quantifying waterfowl food availability in wetland areas along the Atlantic coast.• Analyzed benthic core samples for seed and animal material (macroinvertebrates.) This included washing, sieving, and sorting marsh core samples to identify, classify, and weigh seed and animal material. Microscopes were utilized.

1 Year Apprenticeship. • Led public talks, programs, provided interpretation, and engaged visitors about wildlife biology and conservation.• Identified and catalogued native and non-native botanical species at Coyote Point State Park in San Mateo, CA.• Managed an internship program that focused on training youth to provide environmental education to visitors.
