Alex Simpkins is a press and communications professional with years of experience working on and off the Hill. Currently, he is working on the National Climate Action team, (formerly New Climate Economy project) with World Resources Institute. In his prior role with the Sierra Club, he worked as an associate press secretary, covering federal budget and policy issues for the national chapter. Prior to working at the Sierra Club, Alex was the social media manager for the Sunshine State Collegiate Baseball League, where he build an organizational social media presence from the ground up. He also completed two press internships in the U.S. Senate, for (then) Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN) and Senator Jon Tester (D-MT). He also volunteered as a Campaign Fellow for the Democratic Coordinated Campaign during the 2017 election cycle in Virginia. He has demonstrated skills in press relations, writing, editing, research, speechwriting, social media management, project management, Prior to earning his MA in Political Communication from American University and shifting his career to focus on politics, policy, and communication, Alex worked as a science educator for Echoes of Nature, he designed compelling and entertaining educational programs to engage audiences of all ages in nature and wildlife science.
