A year after moving back to Leadville, Alex joined the Sports Hall of Fame as a volunteer board member in 2018. Rolls include helping to organize and staff the three races the non profit owns, aiding in the production of the induction ceremony every other year, and volunteering to earn funds for non profit. Established in 2002, the primary purpose of the Leadville-Lake County Sports Hall of Fame (SHF) is to honor and recognize men and women who have been outstanding in athletics and those who have given meritorious service to the athletics of Leadville and/or Lake County. Professional Triathlete
After Running for the University of New Mexico, Alex caught the attention of USA Triathlon's Collegiate Recruitment Program and was invited to live and train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs in 2013 as part of project 2016. Alex didn’t make the 2016 Olympic team, but he continued to perform well in the national circuit of short course triathlons in both the draft legal and non draft legal platforms while managing and upholding sponsor relations. Alex continues to race while maintaining his standing as a professional triathlete, and has since added off-road triathlons (Xterra) and winter triathlons (yes there is such a thing) to the mix.
Operations Manager
Now known as VLORM, The initial concept fir Best Deal Retailer started in the manager meetings at Sport Systems while Alex was still a buyer. Once moving over to Best Deal Retailer, Alex helped to develop the earliest technology and methodologies for the startup’s product. In addition he wrote copyright, moved new clients through the on boarding process, helped to hire and orient new employees, developed business relations, and organized appointments at key trade shows and conferences. Alex worked closely with the Marketing Director to effectively launch a rebrand as the company began to scale. Alex directs the product design and development department and aids in the ongoing evolution of the sales and customer support departments. In June, 2019 Alex helped to earn $140,000 in funding for from the New Mexico Job Incentive Training Program to help aid in the growth of the company.

Buyer And Sales Manager At Sport Systems
Sport Systems specializes in swim, bike, run, ski, snowboard, hike and yoga. Alex was the buyer and sales manager for the footwear, run clothing, triathlon accessory, swimming, nutrition, and watch categories. In his first year, Alex improved cumulative department sales by $60,000 by revamping selections and size runs, strengthening the special order system, revising warranty protocols and processing, increasing staff knowledge and customer service, and developing new strategies to sell through aged inventory. Another major program that Alex developed that increased the store's reputation as an authority on running and triathlon, was the development of a gait analysis studio which partnered with a local exercise physiologist. The goal of this studio was bridge the gap between injury diagnosis and the range of solutions footwear can offer to overcome those injuries. The studio helped walkers and runners of all ability levels improve their strength and form for better performance and overall longevity. In 2017, Alex partnered with local breweries to establish a demo run series where different running brands could show case their new footwear models by allowing individuals to sample shoes from a demo fleet on group runs. Likewise, Alex partnered with a local open water practice swim series to demo the wetsuit brands Sport Systems carried. These efforts increased the awareness of the running and triathlon departments in the store and ultimately lead to stronger sales.

With his experience as a triathlete, he could easily sell to customers in the running and bike departments.
