Deputy Director duties include:Position focuses on public education and marketing preparedness campaigns and messages to the community using the county website, social media, indoor and outdoor campaigns and public events. Deputy provides oversight and direction and recruitment efforts for the CERT/Teen CERT program related instructors and volunteers. Maintains contact lists for county response agencies, preparation and submission of various grants and related information, assists in planning and development of required county "plans" for disaster operations and organization of the Joint Information System and Joint Information Center in the Emergency Operations Center and Public Information Officer for RCPCEM. Organizes a Local and Regional Public Information Officer network to enhance communication between agencies in times of emergency and disaster.Assumes the duties of the Emergency Management Director in his absence and/or when assistance is requested including communication with the South Dakota Office of Emergency Management, Chief Executives of the County and its Municipalities relating to policy, procedures, and organization of local government during an emergency. Deputy has broad latitude for decision making, works independently and reports directly to the Emergency Management Director, Emergency Management Users Board, Emergency Responders, and Commissioners as needed.

Marketing Coordinator 2020-Present: This appointee position was created and added to the board following my tenure as President to keep my contribution to the Board and conference planning activities of maintaining the association website, creating and designing SDEMA conference printed materials and completing the Awards Banquet video compiling photos from the previous year activities shared by Emergency Managers.Past-President 2019-2020:Conduct SDEMA Board meetings, providing for direction of conference planning activities, serving as the MC at the annual conference. The President assumed the responsibilities associated with the South Dakota Coordination Committee for the year as President.Association President 2018-2019:Conduct SDEMA Board meetings, providing for direction of conference planning activities, serving as the MC at the annual conference. The President assumed the responsibilities associated with the South Dakota Coordination Committee for the year as President.Association President Elect 2017-2018: The President-Elect assisted the President in conducting meetings and assumed the duties and powers of the President-Elect during his absence and perform all other duties assigned to him or her by the President, Board of Directors, or the Executive Committee and prepare to serve as President the following year. Certified Emergency Manager Appointee 2015-2017: This Appointee maintains the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) program for the Association. This includes working with candidates on their applications, ensuring all requirements have been met to achieve the Basic or Advanced CEM status, issuing credentials and notifications, recognizing those who’ve achieved CEM status at the annual awards banquet and notifying current CEM’s on recertification deadlines and requirements.

Assigned representative for Pennington County to attend Board Meetings and help make decisions on how grant awards are passed onto to non-profit sub-grantees.

Leadership Rapid City is a 12-week program held annually, made up of 20 individuals who've applied and been accepted to the program, to develop leaders in the community. Sessions include special talks and tours, team projects, team building, lasting connections with a focus on developing your own leadership role.

The Donor Recruiter builds relationships with external community partners, businesses, churches, and schools to coordinate and set up blood drives at their locations or on the Mobile Bus to reach and maintain blood collection goals for the community. Works with volunteer blood drive coordinators, to motivate and ensure successful blood drives, while maintaining donor recognition programs in assigned territory, cultivating ongoing public and media relations activities to communicate to public before, during and following blood drives. Administrative Assistant (Date-Date); Assist recruitment staff with promotional materials, create blood drive flyers and packet information for volunteer blood drive coordinators, mailers to donors, started monthly newsletter to employees.Along with another fellow recruiter, we started the ever popular "Guns and Hoses" blood drive in 2005 between Rapid City Police Department and the Rapid City Fire Department. This event brought in record number of donations in its first year and continued to rise as the community jumped on board to support their favorite agency. This event, 16 years later, continues to be a friendly rivalry for the fire and law enforcement agencies replenishing the blood supply in the difficult summer months and saving lives in our community and beyond each summer. United Blood Services in Rapid City is now known as Vitalant and continues its mission of saving lives in our community.
