Senior Production Engineer
Production Engineer
At Sinopec, I was responsible for the PRA North assets, producing 17 000+ boepd, including the sour Wapiti Montney Development play. Highlights included:• Analyzed and developed solutions for downhole well integrity and flow assurance programs to mitigate corrosion, solids deposition and remediation.• Modelling inflow performance and choke sizing for hydrate, erosional velocity and sand control.• Monitor and review area to identify production and cost optimizations. • Production forecasting for marketing service nominations, LLA and budget forecasts.• Managed annual Production P&M + workover capital budgets in areas of responsibility, including well integrity, plunger lift, gas lift, rod pump workovers and acid stimulations.• Modelled infrastructure systems to support Development pad planning, capital optimization and debottleneck legacy gathering systems.
Production Engineer
At Blackspur, I was responsible for production monitoring, optimization and workovers for sucker rod and progressing cavity pump artificial lift systems in medium - heavy oil plays, producing 6000+ boepd. I developed Spotfire data visualization reports to compile well design, production, financial and OPEX databases to analyze performance metrics efficiently and quickly identify production variances for follow-up evaluation. Additionally, I reviewed the incoming AER Dir. 60 Sec. 8 Emissions & Federal LDAR regulation changes and worked with the team to quantify the company’s baseline emissions and develop an emissions reduction strategy.
Production Engineer - Duvernay
As a Production Engineer in the unconventional shale Duvernay asset, I was responsible for the wells from sandface to wellhead while supporting Operations in maintaining the well site facilities, gathering systems and processing facilities through Management of Change (MOC) processes and project management. I coordinated projects across 6 fields within HC maturity windows ranging from volatile oil to dry gas. Some of my responsibilities included:• Optimizing Duvernay appraisal wells across 6 fields, producing 10 000+ boe/d.• Executing, troubleshooting and optimizing artificial lift systems including plunger lift, gas lift, sucker rod pumps and jet pumps.• Creating dynamic well & system models using IPM Suite (Nodal), HYSYS, ValNAV (DCA) and PipeSIM.• Production forecasting for weekly field estimates (CME), monthly re-forecasts (RF) and gathering system optimization / debottlenecking. • Ensuring flow assurance programs in place for wax control, hydrate mitigation and scale / corrosion inhibition.• Supporting the asset team in field development strategies via Production lifecycle modelling, artificial lift bases of design, drawdown management, frac hit mitigation and input for Production requirements for infrastructure and processing facilities planning.
Production Engineer - Edson Heritage
As the Edson Heritage area Production Engineer, I worked primarily with natural gas wells of varying vintage, including 1950s sour Elkton wells and new Wilrich horizontal tight gas wells. In addition to technical work on well optimization, workovers, field compression, standing wellbore tie-ins and area reviews, I managed the asset’s $1-2MM annual Maintenance capital budget. Highlights included:• Responsible for 300+ natural gas wells in the Edson Heritage asset, including new Wilrich wells.• Optimized well production through workovers, field compression, plunger lift optimization, standing well tie-ins and area well reviews.• Responsible for regulatory compliance of well suspensions and workovers as per AER Directive 13.• Analyzed infrastructure bottlenecks by modeling networks in Pipeflo and IHS Piper and executed debottlenecking projects.• Analyzed operating costs of assets to identify operating cost reduction opportunities. In 2017, I had the opportunity to complete Repsol’s Exploration & Production (E&P) Master’s program in Madrid for high performance young professionals.
Development Eit - Edson Heritage
During my time as a Development EIT, I developed technical knowledge of decline curve analysis (DCA) and petroleum industry economics. Using those skills, I evaluated offset competitor wells to create well type curves in ValNAV for new Development wells and to evaluate farm-in and land swap opportunities. This experience in DCA and economics served me well in my future roles as a Production Engineer when evaluating project economics and preparing production reforecasting updates.
Completions Engineering Coop Student - Montney
As a Completions Engineering Coop student, I learned VBA and Spotfire in order to create an efficient method for the team to track daily Completions costs by pad, by well and by Completions’ phase while automating monthly report generation for cost forecasting, non-productive time plots and efficiency metrics. Utilizing Spotfire allowed the team to quickly analyse large amounts of Completions data against production results while optimizing hydraulic fracture designs in the Montney asset. As I developed my technical knowledge under the mentorship of senior Completions Engineers, I prepared Completions stick diagrams and programs under their supervision for execution on upcoming multi $MM wells.
