Having a passion to work in rural India, I served in different Mission Hospitals in tribal areas according to the needs, developing and enhancing surgical facilities and services there. I then moved to a Charity Hospital in a very rural area run by an NGO where I worked for ten years, developing the surgical program and helping develop the postgraduate surgical training program (DNB), along with a short stint as the Medical Director there. I dealt with a wide spectrum of general surgical cases, and developed the Laparoscopic surgical program there, performing and teaching basic and advanced laparoscopy. Having extensive experience in general surgical ultrasound, I trained multiple residents and junior consultants in diagnostic and ultrasound guided procedures. I also trained many residents and junior surgeons to perform diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy. I then entered private practice in the local district, where I made it my goal to spread awareness about the ease and benefits of minimal access surgery, performing and guiding many in basic and advanced laparoscopic procedures. I also visited many rural hospitals all over India to help upgrade surgical facilities and skills there.My desire to be actively involved in teaching within a structured academic setting drew me back to teaching hospitals, and after a short stint at a large hospital in the capital of the country, I moved to bangalore where I currently am at a mission hospital with a general surgery training program and a busy general surgical practice. I continue to visit rural hospitals to help them out.I have a passion for surgical excellence balanced with compassionate care, and passing on of surgical skills to successive generations of young surgeons.
