I manage and direct the Test Automation Engineering team at TQL. We develop and maintain automation frameworks, research and implement modern testing solutions, lead and support QA engineers who are on scrum teams, and provide tools that make testing easier. I'm leading the quality side of our modernization efforts, where we're transforming the way we do software development across our organization. As the test lead on the mobile applications scrum team, I was responsible for all quality and test-related activities on our apps on both Android and iOS platforms. I did the day-to-day tasks of writing tests, executing tests, documenting bugs, organizing and delegating work to other testers, demoing work to product owners, and making suggestions for improvements. I also learned how to automate testing of mobile apps using Appium, and built an entire framework from scratch (C#/NUnit) that could run on emulators, real devices, or BrowserStack devices. I assisted others with their automation questions across the company, pulled together enterprise level QA metrics, and worked with the QA supervisors on growing and improving the QA organization across the board.

Even though my title was QA Manager, I took on many other responsibilities as part of this small company. I helped lead a project to go from TFS to Git, I performed the majority of release management duties, created the release train process for how code moves from dev to prod, and I watched over the repositories to make sure proper branching and code management was occurring. I led several individuals on our internal QA team, and at the same time directed QA resources from offshore and external vendors. I led the automation efforts using a C#-based framework using Selenium for UI tests, RestSharp for API tests, and connected to the Mongo database for data validation. Joined at a very challenging time in regards to quality, and instituted processes and standards that helped stabilize and push forward the software development and QA efforts.

Pacific Metrics was merged under the ACT umbrella in August 2017. With a new title of Senior Software Engineer in Test, I initially continued my test lead role for the computer adaptive testing product scrum team where I was responsible for all quality assurance activities including manual testing, automated functional testing (Java/Maven/Selenium/REST Assured), and performance testing (Jmeter/Blazemeter). I transitioned from the lead SET on that team to a role on a new Automation Leads team that oversaw and led SCRUM teams across the organization. I led SETs on 5 teams, took on projects related to common architecture, and wrote automated tests solutions for projects that spanned multiple SCRUM teams or departments. These projects mainly used Robot Framework and Python.

Lead tester on a computer adaptive testing (CAT) product being built from the ground up. Worked in an Agile environment testing stories and developing automated testing with Selenium using Java. Built the automation testing framework from scratch directly into the product’s code base. Integrated tightly with the developer’s source code strategy with GitHub, and built the Selenium framework into the Maven build process that can be run via the command line or through a Jenkins job for Continuous Integration. Mentored and directed other QA team members on automation testing strategy for other company products. Worked from home in Cincinnati, Ohio the majority of the time with periodic trips to the home office in Denver.

Lead tester of the Looking Glass software solution -- an oncology pharmacy product developed in .NET that uses a Windows desktop application and a Windows app made for Surface tablets. Worked in an Agile environment creating, executing, and tracking all manual testing with a combination of tools including Jama and YouTrack. I managed my own test environment with Visual Studio, Microsoft SQL, and other tools. Created automated tests with the SmartBear TestComplete automation testing platform using a combination of keyword tests and Python scripting.

Managed a team of offshore resources and directed the offshore automation resources in their day to day tasks. Took over QA Manager responsibilities for several months before pursuing another opportunity. Manual test lead or co-lead on several large scale projects including a change in payment processor, major website changes, and mobile app updates. Helped manage and execute testing for biweekly production releases. All testing-related work created and tracked in Quality Center, which I also administrated.
