About Alexander Grantz
I graduated Magna cum Laude from Miami University in 2008 with a major in Technical and Scientific Communication with subject concentrations in Computer and Environmental Science. My education honed my writing skills, provided key insight into technology used in the corporate world, and sharpened my problem solving ability. It made me an expert at writing instructions, teaching technical material, and analyzing documents and software for accuracy and correctness. In the following years, I continued my education earning TMap Foundation, ISTQB, and Certified Software Tester (CSTE) certifications. I began my career as a consultant with Sogeti in June of 2008. I worked at GE, Ethicon Endo-Surgery, and Luxottica as a consultant. At Luxottica I tested several products, became an expert with their POS systems, wrote test scripts, executed tests, and documented and managed defects. I also coordinated several production projects that updated almost 2000 store computers and network connections. I moved to UniRush in 2013 where I led automation test efforts and continued manually testing. At Unlimited Systems, I was the lead tester of an oncology pharmacy solution using a combination of manual and automated tests. In my main project at Pacific Metrics / ACT, I built the automation testing framework from scratch using Java and Selenium. I also served as an automation test lead who oversaw automation on several scrum teams and took on separate automation projects. I then managed the QA team at AbsenceSoft, taking the company to a much higher level of maturity in QA and release management while writing a new automated test framework with C# in .NET Core. I also excel at training, presenting demos, creating documentation, and mentoring others. After working for a year at TQL as a Senior Software QA Engineer, I was promoted to a QA Supervisor position to lead, mentor, and direct a team of talented QA professionals.Testing is a natural fit for me, but I purposefully have kept a broad range of skills that can serve me in many different disciplines. I can be a software tester, automation engineer, QA manager, technical writer, business analyst, and more.
Listed skills include Software Quality Assurance, Sql, Quality Center, Analysis, and 44 others.

Quality Assurance Manager
CurrentI manage and direct the Test Automation Engineering team at TQL. We develop and maintain automation frameworks, research and implement modern testing solutions, lead and support QA engineers who are on scrum teams, and provide tools that make testing easier. I'm leading the quality side of our modernization efforts, where we're transforming the way we do software development across our organization. I work together with other QA leaders on QA department directives, gather enterprise level metrics and present them to IT leadership, and work with people across the organization to make sure we deliver high quality software. I put my team’s needs first so they can be successful. I trust them to do their work without micromanaging, and we work together on setting goals and advancing their careers.
Quality Assurance Supervisor
I managed and directed the Test Automation Engineering team at TQL. We developed and maintained automation frameworks, researched and implemented modern testing solutions, lead and supported QA engineers who are on scrum teams, and provided tools that make testing easier. Previously, I led, coached, and mentored up to 18 QA engineers who were placed into scrum teams across the organization. Each tester verified new functionality manually along with writing and maintaining automated regression test suites written in C#. I work together with other QA supervisors and the director on QA department directives, gather enterprise level metrics and present them to IT leadership, and work with people across the organization to make sure our QA team is validating all of our applications are built and shipped with high quality. I put my team’s needs first so they can be successful. I encourage a healthy work life balance, training, and education so each team member stays sharp and has a healthy attitude when they work from the office or from home. I trust them to do their work without micro managing, and we work together on setting goals and advancing their careers.
Quality Assurance And Release Specialist Iii
As the test lead on the mobile applications scrum team, I was responsible for all quality and test-related activities on our apps on both Android and iOS platforms. I did the day-to-day tasks of writing tests, executing tests, documenting bugs, organizing and delegating work to other testers, demoing work to product owners, and making suggestions for improvements. I also learned how to automate testing of mobile apps using Appium, and built an entire framework from scratch (C#/NUnit) that could run on emulators, real devices, or BrowserStack devices. I assisted others with their automation questions across the company, pulled together enterprise level QA metrics, and worked with the QA supervisors on growing and improving the QA organization across the board.
Qa Manager
Even though my title was QA Manager, I took on many other responsibilities as part of this small company. I helped lead a project to go from TFS to Git, I performed the majority of release management duties, created the release train process for how code moves from dev to prod, and I watched over the repositories to make sure proper branching and code management was occurring. I led several individuals on our internal QA team, and at the same time directed QA resources from offshore and external vendors. I led the automation efforts using a C#-based framework using Selenium for UI tests, RestSharp for API tests, and connected to the Mongo database for data validation. Joined at a very challenging time in regards to quality, and instituted processes and standards that helped stabilize and push forward the software development and QA efforts.
Senior Software Engineer In Test
Pacific Metrics was merged under the ACT umbrella in August 2017. With a new title of Senior Software Engineer in Test, I initially continued my test lead role for the computer adaptive testing product scrum team where I was responsible for all quality assurance activities including manual testing, automated functional testing (Java/Maven/Selenium/REST Assured), and performance testing (Jmeter/Blazemeter). I transitioned from the lead SET on that team to a role on a new Automation Leads team that oversaw and led SCRUM teams across the organization. I led SETs on 5 teams, took on projects related to common architecture, and wrote automated tests solutions for projects that spanned multiple SCRUM teams or departments. These projects mainly used Robot Framework and Python.
Qa Technical Lead
Lead tester on a computer adaptive testing (CAT) product being built from the ground up. Worked in an Agile environment testing stories and developing automated testing with Selenium using Java. Built the automation testing framework from scratch directly into the product’s code base. Integrated tightly with the developer’s source code strategy with GitHub, and built the Selenium framework into the Maven build process that can be run via the command line or through a Jenkins job for Continuous Integration. Mentored and directed other QA team members on automation testing strategy for other company products. Worked from home in Cincinnati, Ohio the majority of the time with periodic trips to the home office in Denver.
Product Quality Analyst
Lead tester of the Looking Glass software solution -- an oncology pharmacy product developed in .NET that uses a Windows desktop application and a Windows app made for Surface tablets. Worked in an Agile environment creating, executing, and tracking all manual testing with a combination of tools including Jama and YouTrack. I managed my own test environment with Visual Studio, Microsoft SQL, and other tools. Created automated tests with the SmartBear TestComplete automation testing platform using a combination of keyword tests and Python scripting.
Senior Qa Analyst
Lead automation test developer using HP Unified Functional Testing (QuickTest Professional and Service Test) for websites and services. Managed a team of offshore resources and directed the offshore automation resources in their day to day tasks. Took over QA Manager responsibilities for several months before pursuing another opportunity. Manual test lead or co-lead on several large scale projects including a change in payment processor, major website changes, and mobile app updates. Helped manage and execute testing for biweekly production releases. All testing-related work created and tracked in Quality Center, which I also administrated. Managed defects in QC and prepared reports on open items to development leads.
Senior Consultant
I was a senior consultant of the Managed Testing practice at Sogeti where I focused on providing testing and software quality assurance solutions to my clients. I worked for General Electric, Ethicon Endo-Surgery, and Luxottica Retail in various functions including Microsoft Access database development, software tester, and project coordination.
