My name is Alexander Hoffman. I am a senior studying Management and Marketing at Western Carolina University. Through my experience working in Admissions and New Student Orientation, I have really found a passion for interacting with prospective and incoming students, helping them get both ready and excited to come to college, especially at Western. plan to pursue a Master's in Higher Education Student Affairs after I finish my Bachelor's and then a career in the field, especially with New Student Orientation or Admissions.Through my time on staff with New Student Orientation (NSO), both in the office and out in the field, I have developed my skills with communication, leadership, and adaptability. Communication is a necessary skill in the field, and in NSO, I have gained a lot of experience with the customer service aspect of communicating to incoming students and their guests/families, while also communicating with my team to maximize efficiency. NSO also helped with learning to effectively utilize my skills with adaptability, as things can change in the field at extremely short notice.My time with Admissions further cultivated those skills, while strengthening my certainty that I wanted to work in the field professionally. I hope to continue in my positions with the rewarding feeling that comes with helping students feel more ready for college, and helping them make the amazing decision that I made in coming to Western Carolina University.I also am involved with Whee-TV, in which I am an interview host and producer for Chats With Cats, where I interview WCU student athletes to show the student/person behind the athlete everyone sees on the court.
