Undergoing a project funded by Diabetes UK, investigating cellular senescence in Diabetes. Furthermore, investigating the use of Senolytic drugs as a teraputic in Diabetic wound healing.

Working in sample preparation, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, imaging, and analysis of Labskin 3D models. Alongside, lab maintenance, regent manufacture and research and development of immunohistochemical (IHC) and histological procedures. Assistance in the manufacture of Labskin models and general laboratory testing of Labskin.

During my time as a student I took on multiple extracurricular activity's as shown on my profile alongside being a course representative. As a part of my project I maintained U87 and T98G cell lines for toxicological testing of chemotherapeutics and potential chemotherapeutics, gaining key skills in cell line management. From my course of Physiology and Pharmacology I achieved a 1st class honours while allso being awarded the underdraduate prize from the Physiological society.

During this appointment I worked out of my normal subject area, in a pharmaceutics research laboratory in development and testing of an aerosolized lung cancer chemotherapeutic. Here I developed considerable practical skill in the lab alongside an ability to develop methods and research structure. This experience stretched me out of my comfort zone, and allowed me to initially work under guidance, and then crucially to work independently as my competence and confidence grew. During this role I demonstrated multiple practical’s to foundation students. I assisted in teaching students the theory behind the experiments and helped them with any issues they faced during the session. Alongside helping set up the lab practical including reagent manufacture and machine setup as well as marking students’ lab books. This allowed me to gain experience in teaching, presentation/ public speaking, method development skills and timekeeping. During my time here I developed skills in timekeeping, leadership and team working. As I was dealing with customers who were experiencing problems, I developed strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to work well and remain calm under pressure.
