Furniture, lighting, wall coverings and decorative accessories are made by hand using rare and unusual materials (shagreen, straw marquetry, parchment, gesso, lacquer, bronze and gold leaf amongst them), following a design vision that brings ancient and modern, organic and classical influences together. The brand has it's flagship showroom in London and a showroom in Bangkok, Thailand. It is represented through trade showrooms across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Project ManagerGlobal Village Crafts Limited 1975 - 1992Somerset, UkI grew up in this fabled family company that was started in 1975 by my ex-Methodist minster father. We had 6 stores (plus one large concession inside Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge) and exhibited at various UK trade fairs. We imported and sold folkart, handcrafts and antiques from across Asia, Africa and South and Central America. I traveled on regular buying trips with the boss from the age of 10; sourcing product and working with craftspeople to ensure the stores were constantly full of vibrant traditional materials, colours and textures. I worked with the promotions, trade fairs, events, design, logistics. I worked in every position from van driver, to picker to shop assistant to catalogue designer to retail staff and trade stand builder; a wonderful immersion into how a business can be run ethically and to a high quality.
