I am currently pursing a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech, and I am working at the the cutting-edge of the Aerospace and Defense industry at Anduril while I complete my graduate studies specializing in the field of guidance, navigation, and control.I graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) with a 3.67/4.0 GPA. While attending FAU I was a member of the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi as well as the international honor society Phi Kappa Phi. I served as team leader for my aerospace engineering senior design project, and I have worked in academic and professional research at FAU Microfluidics and Energy Laboratory and NASA Ames Research Center, respectively. As a full-time professional, I worked as a Mechanical Engineer in the nuclear power industry for Enercon Services, and I hold an Engineer Intern (EI) Certification in Mechanical Engineering from the Florida Board of Professional Engineers. I am able to learn and apply new information quickly and have strong analytic skills, but I believe my true strengths are my soft skills. I can easily work with a team from diverse backgrounds and communicate effectively in all mediums.

Mechanical Engineer

Previously, I was an intern for Enercon. I returned as a full-time mechanical engineer in the Nuclear Services Group (NSG). The Palm Beach Gardens NSG group provided engineering consulting services for several nuclear power plants in the state of Florida. As a Mechanical Engineer, I had the opportunity to work on-site at Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Station. This allowed me to further my knowledge of the operating and engineering of nuclear power plants and mechanical systems. While on-site, I supported multiple engineering changes, including a plant-wide effort to cold-weather proof the plant to ensure that safe and continuous operation can be maintained in extreme weather conditions. I also reviewed P&IDs and Isometric drawings of plant systems to identify components that would require heat tracing and insulation in support of this project. I performed walkdowns to ensure implementation of engineering changes were performed correctly, provided more precise information on plant components to off-site engineers, and interfaced directly with the client about ongoing projects and engineering changes. For several engineering changes, I provided a technical summary of the engineering change and its effects on plant components, drawings, and procedures. Additionally, I was tasked with performing a hydraulic calculation and analysis of an existing plant hydraulic system to ensure that currently used pumps would have sufficient net positive suction head to prevent cavitation in the event of a proposed piping configuration change. Lastly, I served as the lead responsible engineer of a project where I coordinated meetings with relevant stakeholders, tracked the progress of project deliverables, and communicated with various engineering disciplines to ensure that the project was completed in a timely fashion.

Mechanical Engineering Intern

As a NASA Mechanical Engineering Intern, I worked within a small team on a project known as Engineering Polymers. My role was to determine engineering polymers that could potentially replace metal components within the water processing assembly aboard the International Space Station. Utilizing polymers would likely result in mass savings, cost savings, and reduced system complexity. I identified critical material characteristics for the given application to be the creep and fatigue response of these polymers and performed an in-depth literature review on the long-term durability of the candidate polymers. I also investigated and documented the toxicity/off-gassing, flammability, and chemical resistance of the polymers under consideration. I provided this information to my team in a detailed Microsoft Word document that summarized the key findings of my literature review. Second, I was tasked with performing component level analysis to determine what differences in dimensions or geometry would be necessary to replace metal pressure vessels with polymer pressure vessels under the given constraints, as well as the different stresses and masses that would result. I created an interactive Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that could be used to quickly compare the dimensions, masses, and hoop stresses of currently used metal pressure vessels versus engineering polymer pressure vessels. The documents, spreadsheets, and other information that I delivered to my team was then used as a reference in our conference paper titled, "Engineering Polymers as Structural Materials in Spacecraft Water Systems", which was published in the International Conference on Environmental Systems (see “Publications” on my LinkedIn or resume). Lastly, I detailed our findings to upper-level management during in-depth oral presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint .

Fau Microfluidics And Energy Laboratory Researcher

In the Microfluidics and Energy Laboratory at FAU, I researched environmentally-friendly alternatives to currently used carbon dioxide (CO2) scrubbing solutions for post-combustion carbon capture. This was achieved through bubble-based microfluidic experiments where the CO2 absorption of each test solution could be quantified and compared. From these experiments, a seawater-based amine solution with nickel nanoparticle catalysts was identified as a potential replacement for the currently used industry standard solution. The corresponding data and plots were generated using ImageJ software as well as MATLAB and Microsoft Excel. I also researched CO2 storage methods, and identified precipitated compounds that can store carbon dioxide by using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Additionally, I was awarded a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) for this research in the summer of 2019. I presented our research via poster at the SURF symposium. I also presented this research orally using Microsoft PowerPoint at multiple other research symposiums and conferences. All in all, I co-authored and published several conference papers and a journal paper detailing the results of our research. Mechanical Engineering Intern

I learned in great detail about the different kinds of nuclear power plants, how they operate, and the underlying physics of nuclear power generation. I researched and presented the material properties of a new piping material that was to be implanted within the intake cooling water (ICW) system. Additionally, I reviewed P&ID drawings of the ICW system to verify that the valve types and dimensions displayed on the drawings were consistent with current documentation of the system. I was also tasked with researching and presenting information on flood walls and levees so that current designs could be improved to have a higher level of safety, specifically in the event of severe flooding or storm surge.
