Hello! My name is Alexander Wicklund, a current student at UC San Diego with a major in Aerospace Engineering. Growing up I fell in love with the idea of engineering through the shows and movies I used to watch and the videos I would engage with, from Iron Man to Youtube Engineers. This passion mixed with the innate love of adventure pushed me down the path towards aerospace engineering. I hope to pursue and contribute to the incredible field of space exploration to see what limits we can achieve with engineering and the human spirit. I am currently working on a cutting-edge Self-landing Propulsive Vehicle named Riptide with SEDS @UCSD, originally focusing on developing a self-landing system and now also taking on the role of mentoring and leading the overall team as a student project manager. I joined the team originally as a freshman with no experience and only passion; Now as I have gained more experience I have been able to support the team more effectively as I have developed as an overall engineer.I am also currently in a Multiscale Flow Physics research lab under Professor Sanchez at UC San Diego. I am working as a mechanical/fluid engineer to help design/manufacture/and test a new pump that can produce a sinusoidal wave at different amounts of fluid. An incredible experience where I am pursuing my passion for academia while gaining hands-on skills. My overall passions are R&D, Testing, Design, Finite Element Analysis, Propulsive landing Vehicles, and Propulsion. Happy to connect to anyone passionate in Aerospace!
