I am currently a third-year honors student at Bentley University pursuing dual degrees in mathematical sciences with a concentration in financial mathematics and data analytics with an expected graduation date of May 2026.My academic path has encouraged me to become familiar with mathematics and calculus-based probability and theory-based statistics as well as foundational concepts in computer science. These experiences includes programming in Python, including data structures and functions, mathematical statistics, and numerous probability courses. Future coursework has me expanding on this knowledge, learning how to efficiently manipulate data and do high-level visualization.By passing three actuarial exams, I have demonstrated knowledge in financial mathematics (FM), probability (P), and statistics for risk modeling (SRM). Topics include duration and convexity of an investment portfolio, interest rate theory, bonds, annuities, and loans, as well as order statistics, discrete and continuous probability distributions, counting, and Markov processes. Additionally, I have become familiar with linear models, decision trees, time series, and more.My internship at Sun Life has expanded on this knowledge where I analyzed policyholder behavior data, compiling information to be used in a PHB study. In excel, I used index matching, xlookup, conditional statements, and pivot tables. Additionally, I performed quarterly reserve checks in GGY Axis to assist in estimating the expected reserves for Sun Life's universal life insurance policies. Lastly, I participate in and lead weekly meetings with managers of our team in order to ensure on-track work and seamless communication.I aim to acquire more experience in the actuarial or quantitative finance field, as these topics specifically resonate with my interests and strengths.
