For as long as I can remember, I have had a fascination with the inner workings of corporations. At a young age, this meant looking into today's market news and spending hours looking up the words I did not understand. As a teen, I fell in love with business-centric podcasts and how they fed my need to constantly learn new things. Now, as a fulfillment of these interests, I am pursuing a master's of accountancy at the University of Denver Daniels College of Business. I cherish my time in class and take every opportunity I can outside of school to apply and grow my fiscal understanding. In high school I started buying and selling shoes, clothes, and accessories. In doing so, I learned about the intricacies of this ever-growing market. I have and continue to find great success in this area, helping me to pay my way through college. In May of 2019, I started working guest services for the Museum of Boulder. I am responsible for selling museum admissions and memberships, tracking daily intake of cash, and answering patron questions. Since the pandemic, my responsibilities have increased. I have taught executive staff excel strategies to create a functional budget to withstand the financial hardships of Covid-19. Also, I have helped distribute materials and raise over 45k in donations for the fall 2020 season.Volunteer work has been, and continues to be, a significant part of my life. Since May of 2017, I have been a leading member of the Red Cross Youth Advisory Board. This selective board works to promote youth involvement in Red Cross activities and creates service initiatives across Colorado and Wyoming. Around the same time, I started volunteering in the emergency department of Boulder Community Hospital. I used my English and Spanish fluency to assist with check-in and directions. I am honored to have received "volunteer of the year" two years in a row. In high school, alongside being captain of my tennis team, I volunteered for the "I Have A Dream" Foundation and "Pumas Authentically Connecting." Both programs were dedicated to leading youth, facilitating their success and comfort in their coursework.
