Undergraduate Research Assistant
Utilizing Python and MATLAB to develop a direct air capture model that quantifies the minimum amount of energy needed to reduce current atmospheric carbon dioxide levels to ideal levels, so we can further understand what resources are necessary to complete such a task. The code models the thermodynamics of inlet atmospheric air being separated into high purity carbon dioxide and clean air. It will be used to determine the most thermodynamically efficient approach to direct air capture technologies.
Mechanical Engineering Intern
Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2023 and Summer 2024 in the Radar Mechanical Design Department. Assembled test fixtures and took precise surface measurements in the Materials Lab. Performed test fittings on the factory floor. Designed fixtures in CREO and prototyped with 3D printing. Assisted in system level design with CREO. Conducted coolant fluid analyses on radar cooling systems.
Prototyping Lab Advisor
Train and supervise students using various shop equipment including mill, lathe, band saw, drill press, belt sanders, 3D printers, soldering irons, and power tools. Maintain, repair, and clean equipment. Assist students using proper manufacturing techniques. Oversee all lab activities, enforcing safety protocols and ensuring lab space is clean and organized.
