I lead the English-language research team for the Gaza Project, overseeing the collection and analysis of open-source information on airstrikes and conflict-related incidents. My role involves ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of data from English-language sources to provide reliable, up-to-date reporting on airstrikes in Gaza since October 7, 2023. In addition to managing the research process, I am responsible for training and mentoring Airwars volunteers, as well as reviewing and verifying their work to maintain high standards across the team.Gaza project: https://airwars.org/conflict/israel-and-gaza-2023/

During my time at the EUISS, I conducted detailed research on various topics within the Middle East and North Africa region, handling large datasets and translating them into clear, insightful reports. This included extensive work on Türkiye's expanding influence, analysing its economic, diplomatic, and military activities. I also worked on other significant research projects, such as the feasibility of the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor, the Gulf's relations with ASEAN countries, India's relations with the Maghreb countries, and the extension of BRICS to include several MENA countries. I collaborated with colleagues on presentations, organised and attended interviews with EU delegates for policy studies, assisted with the Annual Conference, and arranged various high-level meetings.Additionally, I participated in meetings with representatives from the EU, think tanks, civil society, and others, including the EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process.

I was responsible for investigating and analysing armed militias in Libya. This involved identifying their composition, activities, and crimes, as well as deepening my understanding of complex conflict dynamics. I also worked on a universal jurisdiction case taking place in the Netherlands and monitored Libya’s conflict for our weekly press review.

This internship offered me valuable training in a highly professional and dynamic ‘think tank’ that combines (field) research and engagement with policymakers. ICG publishes high-quality analyses and research on developing conflicts across the world – and it was my task to help communicate this work to the outside world. I drafted texts for all their social media channels and I was responsible for ICG’s Arabic Twitter page. I also contributed to the (internal) daily press review, gathered data on our social media performance and uploaded publications to the website. I also made the most of the enriching training courses that were provided by ICG, on for example writing web intros and op-eds.

I conducted literature reviews on existing pathways toward more European security cooperation. Although some of my work had been used one by one of Sen Foundation's board members for a speech, the original envisioned article was never published as the relevance of the article was negatively affected by the war in Ukraine.The attached piece is an unpublished article that I wrote myself and not on behalf of the Sen Foundation. Therefore, the argument made in the attached article does not represent the Sen Foundation and its contents reflect my opinion only.

The Dutch Coalition for Humanitarian Innovation (DCHI) brings together humanitarian organisations, research and educational institutes, businesses, and governmental actors. The objective of DCHI is to motivate and facilitate humanitarian organisations that are active in pre- or post-crisis settings to rethink their strategy and approach. A different approach and input from other businesses, organisations or individuals can often drastically change the impact a humanitarian organisation can have. By bringing all these different actors together through training programs, events, and online platforms, DCHI not only facilitates networking and collaboration that would have otherwise not taken place, but it also teaches the methods it has developed with the intention of bringing about a change in the way participants think about that core question on which their organisation was built.I have joined the DCHI team to help and spread their message, create awareness, and to make sure that people know DCHI and understand what we have to offer. DCHI is supported by its board, consisting of the Red Cross Netherlands, UNICEF Netherlands, CARE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NL), the Ministry of Defence (NL), and the City of The Hague.

The Amman Center for Human Rights Studies (ACHRS) is an independent, regional, scientific, advocacy center for studies, research and training on issues of human rights and democracy. ACHRS has consultative status with ECOSOC (the United Nation Economic and Social Council).Main activities: • Leading and assisting a team of interns from different backgrounds that are working on their individual research projects for the Centre• Making sure that everyone contributes to writing statements, weekly press reviews, and the attendance of webinars/conferences. • Interviewing, selecting, and providing help to (potential) interns. • Writing of a report and statement on the repatriation of foreign fighters in Iraq (see attachment);• Conducting of a research study for which I applied critical discourse analysis (CDA) to analyse media discourse prior to national elections (see attachment); • Analysis of the security actors in Iraq and its impact on the human rights of the people in Iraq• Monitoring of the latest developments in the field of human rights and writing + editing of the Weekly Press Review (see attachment for an example). At Hozint, it was my job to monitor, identify, analyse, and summarise the latest developments in the MENA region concerning political conflict, security, economy, and natural disasters. I have published over a 1000 clear and structured reports on any development that I deemed relevant for clients of the intelligence platform. As an analyst at Hozint you learn to work with Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and innovative AI software. Major issues that I have covered during my time at Hozint include the escalating Iran-US-Iraq tensions, anti-government protests in Iraq, Lebanon, and Algeria, the continuous provocations in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, civil wars in Libya and Yemen, the direct involvement of Turkey and Russia in the Syrian civil war, and the impact of the coronavirus in terms of casualties and political unrest.

In 2017, the Albanian state had invited SILBA to observe their parliamentary elections. It was my job to observe the opening, voting, closing, and counting procedures, and to conduct interviews with stakeholders before and during the parliamentary elections in Albania.As short-term observers (STOs), we were in Tirana for a week. During this time we learnt a lot about the history of Albania and the current dynamics and challenges concerning their desire to join the EU. On separate occasions we met with representatives of the EU, the OSCE, and the Dutch ambassador. In order to follow the relevant UN guidelines, I have completed the OSCE e-learning course for elections observers.
