During my fourth year, I supported the heads of department in building SUFST's first completed accumulator, which passed scrutineering at FSUK and powered the car to run on track.• FEA and documentation to prove battery container (TSAC) complied with structural rules. Wrote a guide on the process for future years• Assisted with testing and insulating the battery segments• Insulated the container - developed and documented a process for cutting and bonding in sheet insulation to fully cover internal faces of the container, despite welding distortions• Assembled the DC power connector - developed and documented a process for crimping cable terminals with the hexagonal dies available, rather than proprietary tooling costing thousands of poundsI advised the team alongside alumni during my Placement Year.

I worked on a variety of projects at different stages of the product development cycle. I particularly enjoyed developing proof of principle and then prototypes for a novel consumer device, giving weekly technical updates to the client team.I also built and tested a robot for my 'Tech Scholar' project with six other interns. We presented our work to the entire company, making a strong case for its commercial potential. We won internal funding to further develop the demonstration.
