My role involves introducing HR policies and handling administration tasks such as fleet, appraisal and personal record management and making efforts to streamline current processes which will reduce red-tape and improve efficiency.I would initially like to streamline all administration processes and improve the new starter process to provide a better first impression and service to new employees; with the aim to create a smooth induction process and support employee retention. I also took on the role of training a temporary member of staff, providing instruction on processes, being available to answer questions and offer guidance. I felt fully confident within this role and it offered a different perspective on the role I had completed over my placement, to return as a fully trained staff member helping to train newer team members. I was also solely responsible for processing new starters; involving conversing and meeting with them to answer queries and ensure they receive a positive first impression of the building society. Furthermore, I set them up on the system accurately, carrying out DBS and BTURU checks and issuing references. Due to the fast paced and pressurised environment experienced within this team, I was required to manage my time to ensure documents were issued and returned in time for their start dates. It made me develop time management skills, efficiency and accuracy when working towards a deadline. My role within the recruitment team involved analysing candidates experience against the roles criteria, and using my personal judgment to decide if applications were to be rejected or shortlisted. I also had the opportunity to attend the recruitment fair for the upcoming student placements where I proactively engaged with students to offer additional information about the society and roles available. Additionally, I attended the assessment centre to shortlist these applicants and took part in interacting and assessing candidates. These activities helped develop my reasoning and decision making skills.I supported the HR Business Partner team by attending seminars on HR initiatives and employment law. I also attended meetings on employment relations activity to gain a deeper understanding into grievances, investigations and disciplinaries, and had the opportunity to attend absence investigation meetings to take the minutes. Atop these interactions, I was responsible for answering queries on HR policies and procedures via telephone and email on a regular basis which meant I provided good customer service and became acquainted with finding solutions to problems independently. I had a part time job over the Christmas period as a sales assistant with Bonmarché which enhanced my communication skills and resulted in me becoming confident when dealing with customers. My roles consisted of making customers aware of special offers which involved taking the initiative and proactively communicating whilst providing excellent customer care. In effect I had to read the customers emotions to know if they were interested and how far I could push a sale without being too forward.
