Stationed in the Communications and Applications Group of the U.S. Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station, I am helping Forest Service scientists communicate their research clearly and effectively with the public. I work directly with the scientists to translate their work and findings into content that will engage the public across multiple platforms through a variety of media. As a contract editor for EditingWorm, I edit a wide variety of scholarly writing, from dissertations and book chapters to proposals and essays, for tone, logical flow, and language clarity. In addition to language and grammar editing, I can also provide constructive criticism to help strengthen an author's argument. In addition to editing, I also write informative blog articles for businesses.

As senior editor for EditingWorm, I was responsible for doing final edits on assignments to ensure that products adhered to the company's standards before being submitted to clients. I edited a wide variety of work, from scholarly and academic writing, to lifestyle and company blogs, for tone, logical flow, and language clarity. I also wrote original blog content for our business clients.

My responsibilities as a contract editor for AJE include editing scholarly manuscripts written by non-native English speakers for grammar and readability, so that language is not a barrier to publication of their manuscripts.

I completed a PhD in Oceanography at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography as part of Michael Landry's plankton ecology laboratory. My research focused on plankton food web dynamics, specifically the interaction of phytoplankton and microzooplankton in the pelagic ocean environment and the potential impacts of these interactions on energy transfer in the food web. I used a combination of microscopy, molecular analyses, and field experiments to identify these important microbial populations and determine their growth and grazing rates. The majority of my field research was done in the southern California Current Ecosystem as part of the Long-Term Ecological Research site located there (CCE LTER), for which I was also the graduate student representative. I have extensive laboratory and field experience, with over 100 days spent at sea on research cruises.

I was a teaching assistant for two undergraduate oceanography classes at UCSD.In Winter 2014, I was a teaching assistant for SIO134: Introduction to Biological Oceanography. My responsibilities included leading two discussion hours for students per week, writing practice questions weekly for the discussion sections, leading multi-hour review session before exams, and grading exams.In Fall 2014, I was a teaching assistant for SIO101: California Current Oceanography. My responsibilities included weekly laboratory sessions, some of which I organized and led, and grading homework and lab assignments.

I was a laboratory technician in Susanne Neuer's plankton ecology laboratory and responsible for data analysis as well as general lab needs and plankton culture maintenance. I analyzed data form the first cruise of the Trophic BATS project, including microscopy and molecular techniques, and prepared supplies and organized shipments of equipment needed for international cruise and field work.

I was an undergraduate researcher in Susanne Neuer's plankton ecology laboratory pursuing an independent project investigating the pelagic ciliate population of the Sargasso Sea in coordination with the Bermuda Atlantic Time-Series (BATS) station. My project involved the microscopic analysis of 2 years of samples taken from multiple depths at the BATS station and determining both the seasonal and interannual changes in their taxonomic composition and biomass.

I was an undergraduate research intern in Susanne Neuer's plankton ecology lab during which I was trained in general laboratory techniques, aquatic microbial ecology, limnological sampling methods, and epifluorescence microscopy.
