As HR Advisor at BCD Travel, covering maternity leave, I offered advice and guidance to line managers and staff on company policy and statutory compliance. This covered such things as performance management, holiday and sickness absence, maternity, paternity and parental leave and flexible working requests.I provided HR representation at meetings both face to face and via conference call, and minuted meetings when needed.I was heavily involved in recruitment from placing the initial advert using the online recruitment tool, liaising with recruitment agencies and initial screening of applicants, through to making offers of employment and preparing starter documentation.As part of my role I was also tasked with collating information for payroll and amending salaries, job titles, working hours etc on the system where necessary.I used various computer systems during my time at BCD Travel, those being Empower which was used to maintain personnel records, Insite intranet and Virtual Edge which is an online recruitment tool.

I started my time at the RSM as an administrator in the HR and Payroll department and from there gained enough experience in an HR environment to allow me to become an HR Generalist with the company a few years later before being made redundant in 2012.As an HR Generalist it was vital to be fully conversant in the RSM's policies and procedures to enable me to advise managers and staff on all aspects of working at the Society, as well as offering guidance on statutory maternity and paternity leave and pay, and disciplinary and grievance procedures. I attended and took notes at disciplinary and grievance hearings across the company and produced all paperwork in relation to these meetings.In addition to my HR duties I was also responsible for collating and running a weekly payroll for approximately 50 staff and a monthly payroll for approximately 200 staff, as well as being available to answer any queries about pay and tax from managers and staff.I was involved in recruitment for all the departments within the company and updated job descriptions, drafted adverts, liaised with recruitment agencies, arranged interviews, made offers of employment and produced all starter documentation.I used an integrated system called SnowdropKCS to maintain HR records and run the payrolls.I serviced various committees whilst in my role allowing me to hone my minutes-taking skills over the years and identify it as something that I enjoy.
