Along with 40 other staff members (30 counselors), oversaw the health, safety, and welfare of campers, ages 6-15 years. Provided supervision, direction, enthusiasm, and positive reinforcement for the campers while demonstrating patience and positive role-modeling. Taught daily skill session activities & composed written communications to campers following their experience. Supervised, evaluated, and motivated staff, including assisting with behavior management of campers. Administered and executed summer program events during each week; coordinating lesson plans for each skill session. As required for the position, was trained in Red Cross certified First Aid courses: CPR, Waterfront Safety (Lifeguard), Outdoor Survival, & Emergency Van Operation. In addition to the duties previously outlined, many life lessons were taught & learned in working at the Pepin campus. Many of these lessons comprised of subjects such as child psychology, team communication skills, waterfront & outdoor living management, culinary skills, and extensive knowledge of unconventional skills.
