The BEAMS team is comprised of an academically driven cohort of undergraduate students at the College of Charleston and University of Washington. These students learn to use CARIS HIPS and SIPS to collect and analyze bathymetric data to produce 2D and 3D surfaces of the ocean floor. Every two years, the team travels to the U.S. Hydrographic conference to present their research work.

I was lucky enough to be an intern aboard the Celtic Explorer, where I helped collect multibeam sonar data, magnetometer data, backscatter, and sidescan sonar data with the Marine Institute of Ireland and INFOMAR.

During May of 2017, I will be working as a seafloor mapping intern aboard the E/V Nautilus under the wing of the Ocean Exploration Trust.

Graduate School Of Oceanography At The University Of Rhode Island

During the summer of 2014, I was one of eight chosen to participate in the OET Honors Research Program. During this program, I spent a month at the University of Rhode Island studying marine biology and oceanography with Dr. Robert Ballard. Then, I was invited to join the E/V Nautilus team off the coast of Jamaica and Navassa Island conducting scientific research and collecting bathymetric data.
