• Analyzed Foundation’s $4 million Brazil award portfolio to identify impact and potential risks to the successful implementation of six national and subnational early childhood projects, with a focus on outcomes and alignment with organizational goals and stakeholder needs.• Assessed project activities and stakeholders to understand social issues projects looked to address, as well as methods, and solutions proposed; this included stakeholder consultations to understand populations included in each project. • Interviewed local implementing teams in English and Portuguese to prepare six internal project briefs to support the development of annual reports and guide future operations and monitoring.

• Compiled data on a citizen security research project to be presented by senior researchers at the 2012 workshop Impacts of Violence and Crime on Human Development: Placing Citizens at the Center of Citizen Security, an initiative by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in preparation to the organization’s 2013 Human Development Report for Latin America.• Investigated electoral laws across Latin America for the development of a country-by-country assessment of Latin America’s electoral laws and systems to build a database for public access; research focused on primary sources documents capturing laws on gender and minority quotas. • Conducted an analysis of police-justice security systems in several South American countries for a joint project with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) that looked at public security challenges and state capacity in the region.
