About Alex Lowe

As the Director of Azure Technical Content at Microsoft, I lead a team of Technical Writers and Content Portfolio Managers who produce interactive learning experiences and credentialing for over 20 Azure portfolios. With over 20 years of experience in the technology industry, I have a passion for innovation and excellence, and a proven track record of driving impactful business outcomes for Microsoft and its customers. In my current role, I collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, business groups, and go-to-market teams to create engaging and innovative content experiences (covering generative AI, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, and utilizing AI technology to improve business processes) for over 2 million Azure customers annually. In my previous roles, I facilitated the migration of hundreds of customers to the public cloud, resulting in over $100 million in recurring revenue, and improved the efficiency and satisfaction of our triage process by 45%. I also developed and executed a comprehensive learning and skilling strategy for the FastTrack for Azure organization, and created a gamified learning experience that has engaged nearly 1 million participants on Microsoft Learn. I am adept at driving cloud computing solutions, enterprise architecture, software development, and agile methodologies, and I have a strong foundation in information systems and security. I am also committed to hiring and building diverse and inclusive teams, and fostering a culture of collaboration and empowerment.

My role shifted slightly as a part of an internal reorganization but essentially I performed the same functions as I did in my previous Cloud Solution Architect role. I worked with customers to help them understand the value of Microsoft Azure and how they could leverage the public cloud to build innovative solutions for the business. One highlight from my time as a Technical Specialist was that I created the Cloud Skills Challenge concept, piloted it in the Great Lakes region, and then worked with Microsoft Azure developer marketing team to turn it into a US wide program. I built the initial leaderboard application and the program constructs and then advised a larger development team as we scaled the application. We've since conducted thousands of Cloud Skills Challenges in the United States which has resulted in thousands of people learning (nearly a half of a million hours of time spent by those users) about Azure on Microsoft Learn. I earned the Champion Award in Q3 for the impact that the Cloud Skills Challenge has had on our Azure business.
